GARRY ROBERTS

Garrick was born in The Rotunda maternity hospital at the top of O'Connell Street in Dublin and went on to be comprehensively educated by the Quakers at Newtown School in Waterford, where he formed his first band - with Simon Crowe on drums. He is the original founder of The Boomtown Rats and the band first came into being in his parents' kitchen on the western edge of Dunlaoghaire.
Garrick likes to think of himself as the "first guitar" player with The Rats. He also contributes backing vocals on most of the band's recordings, with occasional stints on bass guitar and saxophone.
During the time when The Rats were not trading, he worked as a live sound engineer and worked with several bands, including Simply Red and Orchestral Manoeuvres in t'Dark, and mixed out-front sound for Flesh For Lulu on their legendary three-month US "Boot Lounge" tour in 1987. His guitar playing can be heard on a couple of Geldof's solo offerings.
Garry has never been and never will be an "ex-Boomtown Rat" and he is currently trying to muster enough votes for his nomination as Lord Mayor of Boomtown.

It's pretty good.
