SIMON CROWE

 

Simon Crowe was born in Dublin and is an original and current member of The Boomtown Rats. In 1973, having dropped out of college, he became the original Riverat, living on a barge on the canal near Dublin. However his old school mate and fellow school band musician, Garry Roberts, persuaded Simon to join the band before they even had a name.

 

Simon became the drummer and main backing vocalist with the band who went on to conquer the world, well, most of it anyhow! The band had numerous hits with six studio albums, touring the planet, playing at Live Aid, etc.

 

Later, after the Rats went their separate ways in 1986 he formed Gun~Ho with Johnny Fingers and they wrote, produced and performed an album called '10'. He later moved to the South West of the UK and formed the celtic funk outfit Jiggerypipery, writing and recording two albums of their own material.

 

Now that the Rats are back together with their new album 'Citizens of Boomtown', he welcomes the challenge of world domination (just for a change) and relishes the thought of The Boomtown Rats playing long into the future!
