Paul began his diminutive career as an assistant engineer at Ridge Farm Studios and then spent several years based in Los Angeles playing guitar with Rick Dufay (ex-Aerosmith). Paul has since worked with a variety of acts including Sir Bob Geldof, Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople), Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel, The Pogues, Holy Holy (featuring Tony Visconti, Woody Woodmansey and Glenn Gregory), Marti Pellow, Robin Gibb, Pete Wylie (The Mighty Wah), Steve Norman (Spandau Ballet), Reeves Gabrels (David Bowie, the Cure) and Lisa Ronson. He is currently very much enjoying being a member of The Boomtown Rats.

In early 2018 Paul was invited to perform in the house band at Shane MacGowan’s 60th birthday concert in Dublin and shared the stage with Johnny Depp, Nick Cave, Bono, Bobby Gillespie, Clem Burke, Glen Matlock and Steve Nieve.
In 2016 Paul toured the USA twice with Holy Holy performing David Bowie’s ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ album. The second tour included house band duties at the Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall performing with Debbie Harry, Cyndi Lauper, Jakob Dylan, Rickie Lee Jones, Perry Farrell, Cat Power and Esperanza Spalding amongst others.

Paul has written music for television and film since the mid nineties. He has also recorded many albums of production music in a variety of styles, including Rock, Punk, Indie, Blues, Acoustic Roots, World, Rockabilly and Folk. To date, he has over 1200 pieces of music registered with the Performing Rights Society that continues to provide him with a pitiful income sufficient for his simple needs.
